We’ve been working on this custom fireplace over the last week and are using some of our favorite inlay techniques to achieve a unique and interesting look. The client requested a series of shells be visible from the surface, which means hand selecting each piece of shell and placing it in just the right spot before the pour. Once the concrete has set in the mold, we will find just the right grind setting to expose the shell along the surface. We’ve used this technique with glass wine bottles, river stones, fossils, abalone shells and oyster shells for various custom client projects. The possibilities are endless and the results are very special!
